Robert, Prior. Obituary


Robert T. Prior formerly of Dalton died Friday morning in West Lafayette, Ind., where he had resided for the past year. He was born in New York City, son of the late John and Augusta Stellar Prior He was preceded in death by his wife of 58 years the former Vivian Corey Prior in 2002. He was formerly employed for 25 years by Waitt & Bond/Blackstone Cigar Company where he served as Company treasurer. He later operated his own Public accounting business in Factoryville for 25 years. He was a graduate of the University of Scranton and served with the army during WWII. He was a life member of the Dalton Fire Company, serving for over 50 years. He served as Ambulance Captain and President at various times and was in charge of supplies at the Firemen’s Carnival since 1957. He was also a member of the Factoryville Fire Company for 10 years and served as recording secretary. He was formerly active in the Boy Scouts of America, serving as Pack Master and a member of the District and executive boards, also a former member of the Dalton Boro Council, a charter member of the Dalton Sewer Authority and a member of the Dalton civil Defense. He was preceded in death by his sisters Mary Negri and Virginia Prior and a brother Edwin Prior. He is survived by his son Robert E. Prior and his wife the former Marge Sherwood, four grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 12 noon at the Anthony P. Litwin Funeral Home, 33 Reynolds St., Factoryville. Interment will be Fairlawn Cemetery, Dalton. Friends may call on Tuesday from 11 to noon.
