Walter, Button. Obituary


Walter L. "Larry" Button, 64, formerly of Springville passed away peacefully, Saturday, March 6, in Pittsburgh, after a long battle with ALS. He was born in Springville, son of the Late Walter E. Button Jr. and Mary Posten Button of Springville. Larry was 1964 graduate of Elk Lake High School, after graduating he joined the Navy and served in Vietnam in 1964 and 1965, then he traveled the world on Navy ships serving our County for over 20 years, retiring from the Navy in 1984. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and reading books concerning our military history. Larry was also a member of the American Legion in Kingston, PA, VFW Post #283 Kingston and Montrose Post #5642, and the NRA. He was preceded in death by two sisters; Connie L. Button and Barbara Ann Schultz. He is survived by two sons: Walter L. Button Jr. and his wife Sunday of Pittsburg, Robert Button and his wife Stacy of Illinois, two brothers: Rodney and his wife Olivia of Tamaqua and Robert E. of Springville, three sisters: Donna Di Luzio and her husband Philip of Georgetown, De., Dr. Sandra Lane of Tunkhannock and Janice Button of Springville, grandchildren: Joshua, Devin, Adam and Annabella Button, many nieces and nephews. The family would like to give their sincere thanks to the Kindred Hospital in Pittsburg for their outstanding care during Larry's illness. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2pm at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock with Rev. Jane Bensley of the Springville United Methodist Church officiating. Interment will be in the Lynn Cemetery, Springville. Friends may call on Thursday from noon until 2pm.
