Alfred D. Pero, 95, passed away Saturday, May 18, 2024. He was born on October 16, 1928 in Detroit, Michigan.
Alfred was married on January 27, 1951 to Eleanor Frantz Pero.
He is preceded in death by his son, Elwood, and his beloved wife, Eleanor Frantz Pero.
He worked in the PA Coal Mines for 9 years. Then he moved his family to Chicago to work on the Railroad, thereafter, working at General Mills. Fred and Eleanor moved from Chicago, to California, to Pennsylvania.
He was a Boy Scout and volunteered as a Scoutmaster as an adult for many years.
Beyond his occupations, he had numerous hobbies and interests that brought joy to his life. He whittled and crafted wooden figures, he had a knack for creating origami. He loved reading, especially history and biographies. He and his wife were avid explorers & travelers, camping all over the United States.
Fred was known for always having a story to share. He touched the lives of many by spreading kindness and always lending a helping hand.
Per Fred’s wishes, there will be no public services held. We encourage you to remember him by engaging in one of your passions.
