Alice Bishop

Alice J. Bishop, age 100, of Springville, passed away peacefully at her residence on October 4, 2025. Born in Scranton on August 8, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Cora Swingle Howell.

A graduate of Dimock High School, class of 1945, Mrs. Bishop was preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert Bishop, who passed away in 2014.

Mrs. Bishop dedicated 23 years of service to Lee Store in Springville, and alongside her husband, managed their dairy farm with commitment and hard work. She found enjoyment in gardening, canning, sewing, and everyone knew her for your famous pie crust.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Bishop was predeceased by her siblings: Leo Howell, Leona Hinz, Harold Howell, Altha Fleeger, Wilbur Howell, Frances Howell, and Ruth Shupp.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 11th at 10:30 a.m. at Harding Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, PA 18657. A viewing will begin at 9:30 a.m. and continue until the time of service. Interment will follow at Jersey Hill Cemetery.
