Deborah S. “Debbie” Higgins, 61, of Nicholson, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday August 21, 2025. Born March 10, 1964, in Red Bank, NJ; she was the daughter of the late David Baker who died in 2024 and the former Geraldine S. Wheeland who died in 2022.Debbie married her husband Jeffrey Wayne Higgins in 1986.
After graduating from Lackawanna Trail High School, she went to Empire beauty School and worked as a beautician in Dalton, Country Club Clippings and then later out of her home. She worked at Keystone College for 19 years as manager of the College Book Store. She volunteered at Laura’s Hope Rescue in Hop Bottom. She was a member of the Factoryville United Methodist Church. “Grammy” loved to spend time with her grandchildren.
Debbie was known for her selflessness, devoting her time to the people she loved. She cared deeply about both people and animals, spending many hours volunteering and advocating for our furry friends. Out of all the animals, her most beloved fur baby was undoubtedly her sidekick, Bentley. She kept busy with many projects, including gardening, canning, crocheting, crafting, and shopping. She took pride in being the official family travel advisor, coordinating girls’ trips with her bestie, Lisa and fishing trips up north with Jeff, Jim and Jeanette. Debbie also cherished time spent with her brother and family, especially during the holiday seasons. Many community members would remember Debbie during her beautician days at her home salon. Out of all of her passions, nothing brought her more joy than her two granddaughters, Sadie and Lacey. Anyone that knew Debbie knew that being Grammy was her priority and proudest title. Although she will be dearly missed, she is now reunited with her mother, her beautiful guardian angel. And finally no one will miss her more than her soulmate of 39 years.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her stepfather Albert J. Sharp who died in 2003.
Surviving beside her husband, Jeff, is her son, Brad (Nicole) of Nicholson, brother, Jim Baker, Denver, PA; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jim and Jeanette Dewitt; two granddaughters Sadie and Lacey. Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
