Dorothy Sheard (Owens)

Dorothy B. Sheard, 92, of Sylvania OH formerly of Factoryville died at Flower Hospital, Sylvania OH on Thursday, Feb.1, 2018.  Born on Dec. 12, 1925 in Clarks Green; she was the daughter of the late Charles P. and Beatrice D. Lavin Owens. Her husband of almost 64 years, the late Vernon R. Sheard, died in 2009.

During her last month’s Dorothy often expressed immense gratitude for the many blessings of her life.  She was a loving wife and mother who was devoted to her family, supporting her children as a Cub Scout leader and in various church and school activities. A longtime member of the First Baptist Church, Factoryville, she was active in New Bethel Fellowship, the missionary society, and was ‘white cross’ chairperson for over twenty years. She was also active in the Order of the Eastern Star.

Dorothy was a graduate of Clarks Summit High School. A skilled seamstress, she was employed in that capacity for over twenty years.

Preceded in death besides her husband, Vernon R. Sheard, was a daughter, Judith Ann Sheard; Sister, Helen Chambers; and Brothers, Edward and William Owens.

Surviving is a Son, Bob Sheard & Wife Jean, Waynesboro, VA.  Daughter, Denise Sheard Barteck & husband Ed, Sylvania, OH; Grandchildren: Kendra Sheard, Fishersville, VA; Ryan Sheard and wife Emily, Little Elm, TX; Jamin Sheard, Richmond, VA; Ethan Barteck, Atlanta, GA; and Abigail Barteck, Sylvania, OH; and Great-grandchildren: Brooke , Pierson & Adeline Sheard.

Funeral Service will be Saturday Feb.10, 2018 at 11am from Anthony P. Litwin Jr. Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 Reynolds St. Factoryville with Rev. Paul Fields II officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home an hour before service time. Interment will be at Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.
