Elizabeth Carey

Elizabeth Irene Carey, 79, of Springville, PA, died on Sunday morning, Aug.30, 2015 at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre. She was born in Hop Bottom on Aug. 7, 1936, the daughter of the late Jerry and Edna Springer Wood. Elizabeth and the late Jack E. Carey were married for 53 years.

She enjoyed gardening; word searches, birds, and especially fishing were she holds a Tunkhannock record for a large Musky she caught on the Susquehanna River.

In addition to her parents and husband Elizabeth is preceded in death by her brothers Arthur, Howard, and Donald Wood.

Surviving, are three daughters, Tonya Mason of Springville, Roxanne Choplosky of Hop Bottom and Amy Carey of Tunkhannock; Three sons, Jack Carey of Factoryville, Danny Carey of Sweet Valley and Randy Carey of Tunkhannock; brothers Jerry Wood of Brooklyn, Ronald Wood of Nicholson, sisters; Gertrude wood of Springville, Lora Wood of Dimock, Julie Wood of N.C., and Viola Hollister of Dimock. Many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

A viewing will be held on Wednesday evening, Sept. 2 ^nd at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock from 6pm until 8pm.
