Ernest C. Lynn Jr., 72, of Tunkhannock, passed away peacefully at his home on July 6, 2026, surrounded by the family who loved him most.

Born in Wilkes-Barre on November 24, 1953, Ernest was the son of the late Ernest C. Lynn Sr. and Bethel Rinker Lynn.

For 51 years, Ernest shared a beautiful marriage with the love of his life, the former Debra Ann Gleason. Together they built a family rooted in love, loyalty, and unwavering devotion.

Ernie was a man of quiet strength, humility, and integrity. He was never one to seek the spotlight. He listened more than he spoke, and when he did speak, his words carried meaning. His calm presence, steady guidance, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

Ernest worked as a welder for Karnel Industry before retiring from G.R. Noto, where he earned the respect of coworkers through his dedication and hard work. Beyond his career, he was deeply involved in his community when raising his kids. Whether coaching or simply lending a helping hand, Ernest believed in showing up for others without expecting anything in return.

Above all else, Ernest’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband, a proud father, and the very best Grandpa. His granddaughters, Taylor Lynn and Caleigh Gilpin, were the loves of his life and brought him immeasurable happiness.

In addition to his beloved wife, Debra, Ernest is survived by his son, Shane Lynn and wife, Kendra, of Tunkhannock; his daughter, Erica Lynn, of Covington, Ohio; his cherished granddaughters, Taylor Lynn and Caleigh Gilpin; his brother, Dale Lynn and wife, Sharon, of Winter Haven, Florida; his “adopted” grandchildren, Kendra Brennan, Annalise Verbeek and Day’Lynn Garrett; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, dear friends, and neighbors whose lives were made better by knowing him. Also, his loving PITA companion dog, Missy. Who laid by his side faithfully during his last days.

Ernest’s legacy is one of unconditional love, quiet wisdom, hard work, and unwavering dedication to his family. While our hearts are broken, we find comfort in knowing that the love he gave so freely will live on in each of us. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.

Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

We would also like to thank the staff at Sacred Heart hospice. The kindness, compassion, love, humility and care they showed Ernie in his last days was immeasurably.
