Hazel F. Enwright

Hazel F. (Jarvis) Enwright, 89, of Tunkhannock, PA died peacefully at her home on May 20, 2023.  She was lovingly cared for by her daughter, sons and the Hospice of the Sacred Heart.

She was born on December 31, 1933 in Leominster, Mass, the daughter of Elvira and Henry Jarvis and Leslie H. Ellis.

In her younger days Hazel was actively involved in the Salvation Army and spent many hours ringing her bell at Christmas time reminding everyone of others’ needs.

Hazel married her love, Robert Enwright on November 20, 1954. They were happily married for 61 years until his death in 2016. She was devoted to her family, friends and neighbors.

Hazel enjoyed living in New England for most of her life and spent her free time camping, boating and fishing at Squam Lake in New Hampshire.  Hazel loved entertaining friends and relatives, bowling and playing dominoes and cards. She joyfully attended Tunkhannock United Methodist Church.  She turned her love for knitting into her personal mission work, having made over 1,000 hats for premature babies. She was a loyal, special, and friendly person.

She had many lifelong friends. Hazel loved her family and enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s concerts, games and activities.  She always made sure to bring her own children on Sunday picnics.

In addition to her parents, Hazel was preceded in death by her husband Robert, son David, and an infant daughter, Vicki Lynne.

She is survived by her three children: Joyce and Michael Hill, of Tunkhannock; Robert Enwright Jr. and  Linda of Greenville, NH; Steven Enwright and Roy Sanderson of Oklahoma City, OK; grandchildren: Chasity and Nick Enwright, Elizabeth Bryson, Crystal Holt, Nathan and Justin Hill; eight great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, a half-brother, Leslie Ellis Jr. and half-sister, Greta May Ellis.

Our Mom Hazel will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.

A memorial service will be held at Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St, Tunkhannock, PA on Thursday June 1 at 1pm.  Visitation will precede the service starting at 12pm. Internment will take place at St. Bernard’s Cemetery in Fitchburg, Mass, at the convenience of her family.
