Janet M. Kristunas

After a long battle with Cancer, she left this place for her Eternal Home with the Lord & Savior. Janet M. Kristunas, 86, of Tunkhannock passed away Tuesday morning, May 5, 2026 at her home with family by her side.

Born on March 11, 1940, in Eaton Twp., she is the daughter of the late Claude and Erma Phillips Shotwell.

She was a 1958 graduate of Tunkhannock High School. Janet was a tax collector for Eaton Twp., a long-distance phone operator and was a secretary at Decker Lumber, Tunkhannock.

Janet enjoyed Square Dancing, knitting and crossword puzzles.

Additionally, she was especially proud to be a devoted member of the Eatonville United Methodist Church. Serving as membership secretary, administrative council chair, trustee chair and service class secretary

She is survived by her husband of 66 years Paul E. Kristunas married on September 19, 1959; her brother Earl Shotwell of Tunkhannock; Lloyd Shotwell (Margaret) of Owego, NY; a sister – in – law, Barbara Shotwell; several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her brother, Carl Shotwell, 2012; sister, Wanda Brown, 2022 and a nephew Wayne Shotwell.

Family and friends are invited to attend Janet’s Funeral Service which will be held on Saturday, May 9, at 10:am from Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W. Tioga St, Tunkhannock with Pastor Lori Robinson officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday, May 8 from 5pm to 7pm. Interment will be held in South Eaton Cemetery, Tunkhannock.
