Janet Matilda Newman, 70, of Tunkhannock, passed away on Oct. 30, 2026. Born in Mehoopany on March 2, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Donald Brunges Sr. and Grace Dymond. She was married to Gary Newman. After living in Arizona for most of her life, she moved back to Tunkhannock with her son. Janet cared deeply for her family, and enjoyed spending hours in conversations at the kitchen table. She was a generous soul, and always made sure people were taken care of and had what they needed. She enjoyed assembling puzzles, playing Frakle, watching birds, caring for her plants and pets, drinking her morning coffee, and baking. She is survived by her son, Daniel (Tammy) Coolbaugh; daughter, Amanda (Chuck) Mcwhorter; grandson, Christian Moody; granddaughter, Shirah Coolbaugh; and many nieces and nephews whom she loved deeply and who brought her happiness. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Donald Brunges Jr.; sister, Lillian Brunges; and son, Andrew Coolbaugh. Private funeral services will be held at the family’s convenience.
