Jean Marie Franko (Zanghi)

Jean Marie Franko, 78, of Tunkhannock, passed away at Geisinger CMC Hospital, Scranton, on December 29, 2021.  She was born in Scranton on January 18, 1943. The daughter of the late Phillip and Mary (Nash) Zanghi, Jean was of the Catholic faith and worked as a Registered Nurse and Director of Nursing.

Jean loved gardening, cooking, canning, crocheting, watching musicals, and rooting for her favorite college football teams (We Are…). A feisty debater, she never shied from tough conversations, and her fortitude was an example to both family and friends. She truly loved working in the medical field, and her expertise was sought long after she retired.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband Donald and her brother Robert (Bobby) Zanghi.

She is survived by her children Janine Mead (Kevin), Donald Franko Jr, and Lisa Franko; her grandchildren Erik Mead and Evelyn Mead (Justen); her great grandchild Atticus; and her siblings Phillip Zanghi (Pat), Michael Zanghi, and Josephine Franko.
