John R. Balint, Sr.

John R. Balint, Sr. passed away on September 15, 2024 after a long illness at the Allied Skill Nursing Facility in Scranton, PA. John was born on December 9, 1933 in Scranton, PA and was the son of the late Anna Balint also of Scranton, PA.

He was preceded in passing by his sister Barbara of Scranton, his wife of over 60 years Rita, and his two children John, Jr. and Nancy (Kohl) all of Tunkhannock, PA.

He is survived by his children Linda and David as well as four grand-children.

John was a United States Army Veteran and served his country in Washington state and Texas having been honorably discharged with a rank of Specialist Four in August of 1958. John worked for the A&P company in Scranton, Nicholson and Tunkhannock for over thirty years and retired in 1988.

He was an avid football fan, always rooting for the Notre Dame Irish or the Dallas Cowboys and enjoyed planting a garden each year with his wife late wife Rita. John also enjoyed watching anything western on television and his favorite star was John Wayne.

John will be interred at the Sunnyside Cemetery in Tunkhannock, PA in a private family service.
