Lorraine Podlaski Gelnett

Lorraine Podlaski Gelnett, 82, of Tunkhannock, Pa. died August 20, 2017 at the Scranton Regional Hospital. She was born in Wilkes-Barre,  on Jan. 17, 1935  and she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Sophie Putek Podlaski.  Lorraine was married to Bruce for 60 years.

Lorraine was a 1952 graduate of the Tunkhannock High School. She was an accomplished quilter winning a blue ribbon at the Wyoming County Fair, she also knitted sweaters for children and made prayer shawls for the Prayer Shawl Ministry.  She was an excellent seamstress and she made most of her children’s clothes and she also made Baptismal Bibs for Nativity BVM.  Bruce and Lorraine volunteered making perogies for the Lent at Nativity BVM for many years.  She was employed at the Tunkhannock High School as a Secretary for many years and she was also an Insurance Agent for Bluhms Insurance.

In addition to her parents Lorraine is preceded and death by her daughter Mary Ann Gelnett.

In addition to her husband she is survived by her daughters Barbara Gelnett of Kingston, and Catherine Gelnett of Barto, Pa, and son James Gelnett of Mehoopany.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10am from the Nativity B.V.M Catholic Church, 99 E. Tioga St. Tunkhannock with Father Dennis Bajkowski officiating.
