Lottie Couzens Powell
November 1, 1963 - May 7, 2026
Lottie Couzens Powell (62) of LaPlume Township departed this life on May 7, 2026 at Geisinger
Medical Center Danville, following a long illness.
Born on November 1, 1963 Lottie was the fourth and youngest child of the late Thomas James
and Bette Getz Couzens. She attended Dalton Elementary Center and graduated from
Lackawanna Trail Jr/Sr High School in 1981. Loud and outgoing, Lottie cheered for the Lions
on both the football and basketball cheerleading squads. She was a strong alto who sang with
Madrigal at school and in The Trio at Dalton Baptist Church. A creative and precise artist, Lottie
attended Keystone Junior College for fine arts.
Lottie spent her working life as a no nonsense bartender/server for various establishments in
the area including Glen Oak Country Club, Ricky’s, The Barrels, and finally Gin’s Tavern where
she worked from 1991 until 2019.
Lottie was a lifelong sunbather who loved vacationing in the Wildwoods and cruising in the
Caribbean. She was an avid skier from her teenage years through her 50s. She enjoyed
walking the Keystone College trails with a succession of labradors, especially in the fall as she
loved watching the leaves change.
She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Harry J. Powell (LaPlume); daughter Brink Powell
(John McNulty) of Fleetville; sisters Deborah Naylor and Linell Webster of Dalton; brother
Thomas James Couzens Jr. (Bonnie) of Clarks Summit; nephews Matthew Naylor (Megan) of
Dalton and Brandon Couzens of Scranton; great-niece Ella Naylor of Dalton.
Lottie’s family would like to extend their thanks to the staff at Regional Hospital of Scranton,
Geisinger CMC Scranton and Geisinger Medical Center Danville for the compassionate care
she received.
Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
