Reta Matalonis

Reta Marie Matalonis, 94, passed away at her house Mar. 16 ^th . She was born in Tunkhannock on July 13, 1922, and she was the daughter of the late Adam and Lucy Slavinski Barziloski. Reta was married to Joseph Matalonis for 49 years and he passed in 1998.

Reta was a graduate of the Tunkhannock High School and she was an Interior Designer specializing in sewing drapery and slip covers. She also worked in the shipyards of Philadelphia and was part of the Rosie the Riveter’s.

In addition to her husband and parents Reta is preceded in death by all of her siblings Lillian Harding, Ben Barziloski, Leo Barziloski, Jennie Sikora, Della Unitis, Nelli Barziloski, Zenald Barziloski, Veto Barziloski.

She is survived by her daughters; Anita Kalmanowicz and husband Anthony of Tunkhannock, and Gail Matalonis Kotchin Dornsife and husband Daniel of Dallas. Grandchildren; Jessica, Joseph and wife Laura, Jason, and Janel Kalmanowicz, W.L.(Boomer) Kotchin III and wife Sonja, and Adam Kotchin. Great grandchildren Emily and Anthony Kalmanowicz, Jr., and Maxwell Duckworth and many nieces and nephews.

A mass of Christian burial will be held Monday at 10am from the Nativity BVM Catholic church 99 E. Tioga St. Tunkhannock. Friends may call Sunday at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home 123 W.
