Robert Severance Pinnock

Robert Severance Pinnock “Bob”, 94, formerly of Elizabethtown, PA passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, at De Greeff Hospice House St. Louis, MO on Aug. 24, 2024.

Bob was born on Feb. 19, 1930, in Wilkes Barre, Luzerne Co., PA, the son of the late Ernest and Cora (Severance) Pinnock. He was married to the late Alice Setzer Pinnock on June 6, 1953, and shared 71 years with the love of his life.

Robert was a graduate of Meshoppen High School, and then became a post graduate student at Wyoming Seminary Kingston, PA, graduating in 1949. Bob subsequently attended the University of Pennsylvania for two years before enlisting in the Air Force in 1951. This began a career for Bob in Air Traffic Control with duty at military bases in the U.S. and Japan. Bob was honorably discharged in 1955 with the rank of staff sergeant, and received awards including the Korean and UN Service medals. Upon discharge from the Air Force, Bob started his career in Norfolk, VA working for the Civil Aeronautics Administration as an Air Traffic Controller and retired in 1985 from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) as a manager at the FAA’s New England Regional office in Burlington, MA.
Bob always had a smile on his face, and loved life. He was a spiritual man, and cared very deeply for family, friends and all those he met. In his spare time, Bob enjoyed hiking, camping, watching his sons play ice hockey, singing in various Barbershop quartets, playing cards, entertaining others, and most of all hunting with his beloved nephews, and their extended families. Bob engaged in the communities he lived in, often volunteering his time with his wife, Alice, at the American Red Cross, Nashua Soup Kitchen, Meals on Wheels, and at Masonic Village where he spent the majority of his retirement years. Bob was an active member of the Lutheran church in Simsbury, CT, Peabody, MA, Nashua, NH, Frostproof, FL and Tunkhannock, PA. Bob was also a member of the Temple Lodge #248 F&AM of Tunkhannock, PA.
In addition to his parents and wife, Robert is preceded in death by his loving sisters, Lorraine Keeney and Ernestine Mowry.

Bob is survived by his sons, E. Mark and wife Alissa Pinnock of W. Simsbury, CT and John and wife Heather of St. Louis, MO, three grandchildren: Jamie Pinnock of Boston, MA and Alison and Eddie Pinnock of St. Louis, MO, and numerous loving nieces and nephews.
