Ronald J. Gorko, Sr, 79, of 712 Post Hill Road, Falls peacefully passed away Thursday with his loved ones by his side.
Born in Scranton, June 8, 1945, he was the son of John and Helen Janowski Gorko.
He was a lifelong member of St. Mary of the Lake Catholic Church. Ron attended Overfield High School and was drafted into the Army in 1966 where he was stationed in Germany during the Vietnam War.
He worked most of his life as a Foreman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation in Wyoming County. Ron was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed most of his time in the woods hunting whitetail deer as well as fishing. He was so proud of his children and most of all his two grandchildren, Jimmy and Joey! He enjoyed spending time talking about all their experiences and interests which will remain with them all for a lifetime of wonderful memories.
In addition, Ron spent a lot of time at Factoryville Sportsmen’s club, where he mentored young aspiring marksmen by teaching shooting programs for the scholastic teams in the area. He also was an instructor for Hunter Education with the PA Game Commission.
Ron was preceded by his father John and Helen.
He is survived by his loving wife Ann Marie Pascucci of 56 years; daughters Kelli Lyons Stevens and her son Jimmy; Karen and husband Joseph Gurzenda, and their son, Joey; son Butch and his wife Rosalyn. Ron has two great grandchildren, Carter and Hadley.
A celebration of life memorial mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. on June 22 at St. Mary of the Lake Church (1872 Dalton Rd, Lake Winola, PA.) Brunch will be served immediately following the mass.
