Ruth Hegedty

Ruthann Hegedty, 64, of Meshoppen died at her home surrounded by her family on March 14, 2025.  She was born in Scranton on Aug. 20, 1960, and she was the daughter of the late LeRoy and Loretta Burgess Adams.  She was married to the late James Hegedty.

Ruthann worked as a custodian at Tunkhannock High School. She enjoyed gardening, cookouts, and animals.

In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by a sister Penny Piasecki.

She is survived by her children; Eric and wife Rebecca Otten, Shaun Otten, and Michele and wife Andrea Hollister, grandchildren; Alexis and Izaak Oaklie, Zakary and Riyan Otten, and Emmett and Ellasondra Hollister, siblings; Wayde Burgess, Roy Adams, Chris Adams, Diane Shores, Bonnie Herring, David Story, and Dan Holly and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private at the convenience of the family.
