Valla E. Bell Posten, 86, of Tunkhannock, passed away Sept. 10 at Tunkhannock Rehab and Health Care Center. Born Dec. 1, 1939, in Nicholson, she was the daughter of the late Harry Pat Bell and Mildred Wright Bell. Raised on a farm in Nicholson, Valla enjoyed sharing stories of her childhood. She graduated from Lackawanna Trail High School in 1958 and attended Lackawanna Business College, where she met the love of her life, Lee. She was married to the late Lester Lee Posten for 63 years.

Valla was a member of Osterhout Bible Church and worked as a cafeteria aide at Tunkhannock Area High School. She and Lee enjoyed traveling with their food truck, “Muffins and More,” alongside their best friends, the Conklins. They also enjoyed antiquing, decorating, and, most of all, spending time together.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her great-granddaughter, Eliza Rae Posten, and nephews Eric Youngbluth and Eric Field.

She is survived by her three sons: Rory and Carolyn of Mehoopany, Jeffrey and Lisa of Meshoppen, and David and Marcy of Tunkhannock; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Patti Field of Tunkhannock; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral services will be held privately at the family’s convenience.

Interment will take place at Sunnyside Cemetery.
