Vincent R. Walker, 88, formerly of Glenburn, PA died Saturday at Golden Living Center, Tunkhannock. He was born on Nov. 2, 1925 in Clinton Twp., Wyoming County, and the son of the late John W. and Ruth Detrick Walker. His wife of 67 years is the former Anne M. Stuble. He was a 1942 graduate of Factoryville High School. Joined the U.S. Marine Corp. in 1943 serving in the South Pacific Okinawa and China Honorably discharged in 1946 where he received the Bronze Star and the Chinese Cloud and Banner Medal. He was recalled in 1950 during the Korean Crisis and again honorably discharged in 1951. He was a member of the Abington Heights School Authority, Factoryville Sports Men’s Club, N.R.A., Palace in the Pines hunting camp in Laquin, PA, V.F.W. Post 7069 Clarks Summit, past commander of the Factoryville American Legion Post 375 Olin R. Wheelock, past president of the Scranton Lenders Exchange, member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, manager at Signature Finance Consumer Discount Co. in Old Forge for 27 years as a loan officer. He later became a vice president at North Penn Savings and Loan before retirement. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Judith Dudley whom died on Aug. 23, 2003 and a sister Jean Walker. Surviving beside his wife is his son Larry and daughter-in-law Elaine of Dalton. A granddaughter Vanessa A. Weaver of Dallas, Pa, a grandson Vincent G. Walker of Hartford, CT and a great grandson Gary Donald Weaver III. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 11am from the Anthony P. Litwin Jr. Funeral Homes, Inc. 33 Reynolds St. Factoryville, PA with Pastor Kim Bode officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday from 4 to 8pm.Interment at Chase Cemetery, Fleetville.
