William Chambers

William P. Chambers, 91, of Tunkhannock passed away at the Sacred Heart Hospice in Dunmore on January 18, 2016. William was born in Scranton on April 12, 1924. He was the son of the late LeRoy and Martha Graham Chambers.

He was a 1942 graduate of Dalton High School and attained a business degree at the American Institute of Banking, Brown University.  William was employed for many years at Howard Savings Bank, Newark and later Nutley, N.J.

William resided most of his life in Newark, New Jersey and enjoyed gardening and spending time at Lake Carey, PA.

In addition to his parents, William is preceded in death by two sisters, Virginia Illuzzi and Ruby Burns.

William is survived by two nephews, Dr. Michael Illuzzi of Bridgewater, NJ and Jeffrey Burns of Lakeland, FL, and two nieces, Martha R. Jenkins of Harleysville, PA and Jacqueline Burns of Dover, FL.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11am at the Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 West Tioga St. Tunkhannock. Friends may call on Friday from 4-6 pm and Saturday at 10 am until time of service.
